An ICUMSA is an International unit for expressing the purity of the sugar in solution, and is directly related to the colour of the sugar. there are several different types / grades of ICUMSA sugar

Common Types of Sugar
White Sugar- Which is called granulated or table sugar, its produced by refining sugar cane or sugar beets.
This produces Granulated sugar, Superfine sugar,, sometimes known as Caster Sugar, Powdered sugar also known as Confectioners sugar, Sugar Cubes.
( Vegans should look for unrefined or organic sugar)
Brown Sugar- Brown sugar is made from Crystalline sucrose and molasses, which is distinctive of its colour and flavour, produced mainly in the Caribbean, Brazil, Australia , South Africa and parts of the U.S. Types of Brown Sugar are Light or Dark Brown.
Cane Sugar- types are mostly Refined, Unrefined, and Raw.
